About This Blog

In recent years, hundreds of thousands of students around the world have been drawn to MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), the start of a revolutionary alternative for higher education.

To best serve these pioneers and the broader community, developing education must consider the impact of experiences of learning both online and and traditional college settings.

Each experience is particular. The stories here, from e-mails I wrote home as a college student, describe one set of experiences in a traditional college setting. Social and intellectual challenges alter plans, revealing unanticipated paths to freedom.

My readers will gain an understanding of a college life of diversity in a series of campus dorms, were we struggled over internal and external hurdles to build strong personal and professional identities.

My main focus for this blog, though, is spinning a history of social triumphs and disasters of close college friends, who became like my second family.
